Raise rapport through visible care

Koo’s relationship with Emma is connected to actions you can see and repeat. Pet him, give him treats, and keep him clean. The Cleanse Walker includes a shower for cleaning him, so a return to the Walker is a natural care checkpoint rather than a separate grind route.

Use this loop:

  1. Return from the field and check Koo’s condition.
  2. Clean him at the Walker when needed.
  3. Give a treat when the interaction is available.
  4. Pet him instead of treating rapport as an invisible menu stat.
  5. Check whether the rapport or available skill-slot state has changed before leaving.

The visible result matters more than repeating an unverified number of interactions. There is no confirmed universal “X pets per level” table on this page.

Connect rapport to combat

Increasing rapport can expand Koo’s skill slots. More slots matter because Koo’s command layer is the tactical half of combat: Emma earns Fluorescence Points through successful parries, then Koo spends that resource through command abilities and Bloom Arts.

When a slot opens, do not fill it automatically. Ask what the current command set lacks:

  • control when several enemies are active;
  • pressure after a successful parry;
  • a safer response when Emma needs space;
  • a command that supports the ranged, stealth, or aggressive direction you are practicing.

Then test the changed set against one repeatable encounter. The Combat, Parry & Koo Commands guide explains the full decision loop.

Read Koo’s condition in the field

Koo has his own life bar and can participate directly by attacking or using Bloom Arts. He is resilient, but his presence should not disappear from your decision-making until the command menu opens.

During exploration, Koo also:

  • guides the objective with a visible pheromone indicator;
  • barks when he finds something of interest;
  • can bring items back to Emma.

Those behaviors connect care, exploration, and combat. Use Traversal, Koo Scent & Exploration to turn the field signals into a repeatable search routine.

Use achievements as rapport checkpoints

Three spoiler-light achievements make useful checkpoints:

Achievement Visible task
Snack Time Feed Koo a treat for the first time.
Man’s Best Friend Have a deep talk with Koo for the first time.
Closest Companion Max out rapport with Koo.

They confirm the beginning and completion ends of the relationship track. They do not establish the numeric gain from petting, cleaning, treats, or conversations. Search them in All 46 Achievements when planning completion.

Pair care with the home-base loop

Koo care is easiest to remember when it shares a return checklist with food:

  1. Collect field ingredients and recipes.
  2. Return to the Cleanse Walker.
  3. Check crops, seedlings, eggs, and Kagura’s meals.
  4. Clean, pet, and treat Koo.
  5. Confirm hunger, rapport, and the command set for the next route.

Healing, Hunger & Cooking covers the other half of that loop. Skill Trees & Bloom Arts explains how Koo’s progression family relates to his commands without inventing node values.
